Umbrella VFX just completed work on a great 3D Visualization. The almost 5 minutes long film is a highly complex presentation of Rosia Montana, a traditional gold mining region in Romania. Using actual topographic & satellite maps of the region, our visual effects artists recreated in 3D the local landscape with incredible detail and accuracy. The 3D film shows the story of the potential transformation from a gloomy region, with no current economic activity, into an attractive touristic destination, 25 years into the future. A version of the future both possible and desirable!
Here is a glimpse of the visual package for the Color Jackpot campaign developed by Umbrella for Game World, one of the biggest networks of gaming and casinos in Romania. The campaign focused on the new color Jackpot, a concept meant to maximize the gamers’ experience along 4 Jackpot colors: blue, yellow, red and green. We are proud to present a 1 minute montage from the Blue Jackpot animation.

This month Umbrella VFX launched a new website, marking our 8th anniversary as a company. This is the way in which we decided to celebrate our hitherto achievements, our growing customer base, our enriched skill-set and experience, and our business partners. A minimalist interface, an improved and more straightforward browsing experience and easy to use features await you on our new website. A significant upgrade from the previous version is the use of a brand new code based on HTML 5 in order to offer 100% compatibility with all the new platforms.

Romania Energy Center
Umbrella Design finished the branding of ROEC, the first independent Romanian based English language think tank dedicated to energy topics. ROEC acts as a pole of expertise that focuses on producing both business- and policy-oriented research and analysis, as well as academic papers, organizes public debates, round tables and conferences, and disseminates the results to interested parties. ROEC engages energy professionals on various energy matters with the purpose of offering informed advice to energy policy decision-makers and the business community.
Umbrella VFX recently finalized work on a 2nd Scottrade commercial for the US market, entitled “Every minute” that promotes their global Mobile app and features like free streaming quotes. Our team was responsible with rotoscoping and the end result is now available for viewing on our website. Special thanks to our partners from 90 Degrees West!

This 2 min. video takes you behind the scenes of the Scottrade commercials. It shows you the advertising concept behind the “I’m with Scottrade” campaign and the new marketing strategy as explained by the company executives themselves. The new series of commercials pit the craziness of trading versus the calmness of investing and are meant to appeal to a wide variety of investors, especially self-directed ones. Umbrella VFX has completed work on a Scottrade TV commercial for the US market on which we have worked with 90 Degrees West. Our job in the project was to complete the rotoscoping (21 shots) and parts of the tracking. The 30” ad has aired in the US, last week. Our thanks to 90degW for trusting us with a major part of the post production workflow.

Umbrella Production completed work on a TRI Mark Golf production for the Golf Channel. Shot at Trump National Gulf Course Los Angeles, California, the show brings together NBA veteran Gerald Wilkins against actor, director, and producer David James Elliott, in what is an exciting game benefiting the Folds of Honor Foundation and the Healthy Child Healthy World organization.

The main ideas that the commercials get across to its viewers are that of unity, comfort, optimism, bond, stylish setting for entertainment, natural sophistication, and respect for its audience. It represents a movement forward and intends to build an elegant visual framework for its programs and seduce new audience by projecting a modern and mature visual identity.”

Although at the beginning our reasons were mainly professional and business related, we seem to have developed a passion for it in the process. The Paper Tree

Umbrella ViZ: “The environment problems are, obviously, something no one can afford to ignore anymore. No matter who we are and what we do, we are all affected by and in the same time contribute to them. It is not a secret that in Romania we have an underdeveloped ecologic awareness. That’s why projects like “The Paper Tree”, trying to promote a responsible pattern of behavior in our society, can only be welcomed. When you see a good initiative you must support it and that’s the main reason behind our involvement. Enjoy !”
Our latest project is a series of Visual Effects for the feature After|mage produced by Carter Films and directed by Catalin Leescu.
Our spot for Carrera GT is a synthesis of class and luxury. A pure musical and visual expression of what driving this car feels like. Our basic idea for this spot was to present Carrera for what it really is – the utmost experience on wheels. Creating this spot we had in mind one thing – the car’s knock-out design. While following its seducing design line, our 3D artists focused more on certain of its shapes. At the same time, our goal was to stress the genuine chic personality of this car, and do so in a note of sobriety and classic elegance.
Umbrella ViZ: “Our mission was to turn a video material of Bucharest shot during winter-spring (with its dark, gray, misty and sometimes unclear city landscape) to look like an attractive city during summer season. Because the city had to look deserted the cars and people from the original footage have been removed. And vice versa, cars were added to empty highways so that they look crowded with vehicles getting out from the city. Vegetation, light and heat effects were added in order to obtain the desired image.”

The post-production and pack-shot animation for the entire TV campaign launching the Romanian edition of Glamour magazine on the local market bears our signature.
